Elizabeth Brown is a mission-driven executive and seasoned strategist with fifteen years of experience leading high-impact teams, advancing global development goals, and building cross-sector partnerships. She brings a bold, entrepreneurial approach to leadership—scaling networks, mobilizing resources, and driving innovation that connects small businesses to opportunity.
As Executive Director of Building Markets US, Elizabeth oversees the global hub of a network of locally led organizations dedicated to strengthening small businesses in emerging markets. She leads efforts to expand the network, develop enabling technologies, shape global strategy, and forge partnerships that deliver long-term, practical support to entrepreneurs around the world.
Her background spans the private and non-profit sectors, with prior experience in partnerships, business development, and communications at Devex, Atlantic Media, and International Justice Mission. Elizabeth holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and is completing a master’s degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She has lived and worked in Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Washington DC, and Los Angeles, and currently resides in New York City.
